Indostan.

An exotic land of untold riches. A land culturally divided by race and caste. A land of a thousand divine religions. A land of heat, disease and death.

Indostan. A land at war.

While the remnants of the Great Gurkani Empire tosses in its death throes, a myriad of warring princely states and their private armies vie for the imperial throne. Both Britain and France, served by the British East Indostan Company and La Compagnie des Indostan, respectively, have harbored invested interests in Indostan for decades, conducting relatively peaceful and lucrative enterprise with the blessings of the last of the Gurkani Emperors. But with a war in Europe brewing and the volatile state of affairs in Indostan, each has been forced to back a royal claimant and join the war. Who will triumph in the relentless heat and claim Indostan as the Jewel in the Crown...?

This blog is dedicated to a wargaming campaign set in a fictitious 18th century India, using the Sharp Practice rules. Gathered here are all of the after action reports of the games played, location and character bios, as well as information on the terrain and miniatures used. Enjoy.

Indostan Campaign Blog

This blog will in the near future feature the campaign journal and battle reports of our Indostan miniatures campaign. Useful information will appear under the Index headings above, detailing characters and places of interest. We endeavor to start the campaign as soon as possible but are still gathering our troops and surveying the lay of the land. Please stay tuned.

  1. Just to let you know, I'm looking forward to watching this campaign develop.

The photos you've been posting on "Adventures in Lead" are very encouraging, sir.

  2. Jeff, thank you for your support, sir. We intend to start the campaign as soon as possible but are still scrambling to prep some pieces, mostly terrain. We are anticipating the beginning as much as you, believe me.

  3. By the way, if I might make a suggestion . . . on the "Cast" page, why don't you add a blank line between characters . . . it would make things much clearer.

Also, you might want to pick some dates for the officer's commissions (remembering that commissions were purchased at this time in the regular army).

What I do is to pick a good "start date", then roll a die to see how many years are added to it . . . but be sure that it will be before the campaign year; AND roll a d12 to get the month . . . or you could just pick them as you please.

    Earlier commissions "outrank" later ones.

  4. Jeff, I will take your suggestions on board. Of course we will have a "hero" similar to Chase who we intend to make a Captain very early into the campaign, but having commission dates for the others will be useful and fun.

  5. I took another look at the Cast page and it does look much better with those blank lines between characters.

By the way, I'm working up my own Colonial campaign (very different from yours -- set on a large imaginary island).

We are planning on our "training game" for May 29th so that everyone can learn how "The Sword and the Flame" rules (that we will be using) work.

If you are interested, take a look through some of the posts here:

And if you're not interested (because the campaign is set to start in 1876), that's okay too.
